Review Methodology

How we test and score padel rackets.

Home Review Methodology

Every racket we review is assessed against the same set of criteria. This page explains exactly what we test, how we score and what the numbers mean.

What we test

  • Weight accuracy: We weigh every racket to verify the claimed spec.
  • Balance point: Measured in mm from the handle end.
  • Sweet spot size and position: Assessed through hitting sessions across multiple players.
  • Core hardness: Tested with a durometer and cross-referenced with feel.
  • Vibration transmission: How much shock reaches the wrist and elbow.
  • Frame durability: Checked for delamination, paint quality and edge guard construction.
  • Value for money: Performance relative to price, accounting for available alternatives.

How we score

Scores are out of 10. A score of 8.0 or above means we recommend the racket. A score of 7.5 to 7.9 means it is decent but there are better options at the price. Below 7.5 means we do not recommend it.

ScoreMeaning
9.0 to 10.0Exceptional. One of the best in its category.
8.0 to 8.9Recommended. Strong performance, clear strengths.
7.5 to 7.9Decent. Some compromises. Better options exist at the price.
Below 7.5Not recommended. Significant weaknesses.

Independence

We do not accept payment to review products or to improve scores. Manufacturers sometimes loan rackets for review but this does not influence our scores. We buy most rackets ourselves.

Our affiliate relationships are disclosed on every product page. Commission rates do not influence recommendations.
